agapanthus 2026-07-11

During this season, the agapanthus flowers caught my attention as I traveled to and from work. Some of them are reaching for the sunlight, bending low toward the ground. To receive more sunshine, some even grow through the iron fence in front of them. Their determination to seek the light reminds me of how we, too, should keep reaching for the true Light, no matter what obstacles stand in our way.

Colorful Ajisai 2026-07-04

This is the first time I’ve really paid attention to ajisai, the hydrangea. As I walk by them, I’m amazed by their many colors—blue, purple, pink, and even yellow—and by how some blossoms are small and delicate while others are full and grand. There is something peaceful and captivating about them. Now I can see why hydrangeas are so cherished in Japan at this time of year. I even came across posters for Ajisai Matsuri (Hydrangea Festivals) on the train, which made me realize just how much these flowers are loved during the season.
