這是件緩慢的工程，
如此之慢以至於，
神需要所有時間和永恆，
來製作出按照祂自己目的之男女。
我們對神有用處的最好途徑，
乃是讓祂帶領我們經過
自己性格中的彎曲和裂縫。
我們對我們自己，
無知得讓人吃驚！
當我們見到自己的嫉妒或懶惰或驕傲時，
我們卻沒有意識到它們。
在祂的恩典開始動工以前，
耶穌會向我們顯露，
藏匿在身上的那一切。
我們當中有多少人，已經學習
帶著勇氣去往裡查看呢？
我們必須除去，我們了解我們自己
這個想法，這是最後要放下的自負。
唯一那位了解我們的就是神。
在屬靈生命中，最大的禍害就是自負。
It is slow work, so slow that it takes God
all time and eternity to make a man
and woman after His own purpose.
The only way we can be of use to God
is to let Him take us through the crooks
and crannies of our own characters.
It is astounding how ignorant we are
about ourselves! We do not know envy
when we see it, or laziness, or pride.
Jesus reveals to us all that this body
has been harbouring before
His grace began to work.
How many of us have learned to look in
with courage? We have to get rid of the idea that
we understand ourselves, it is the last conceit to go.
The only One Who understands us is God.
The greatest curse in spiritual life is conceit.
