這是1943 百老匯舞臺音樂劇 “Oklahoma” 的一個主要歌曲。另一主要歌曲的歌名是 “Oklahoma”。之後1947 至今2023, 這舞臺劇又上演過多次，且多年來也在美國許多高中學校的學生表演，與”真善美” 並列為高中生喜好。
Oklahoma 鄰近美國德州北部。1907年當地(territories) 的歐裔移民，與眾多本土印笫安人，共同投票決定成立獨立州(state), 並加入聯邦美國。本土印笫安人至今佔該州人口比率百分之十幾，且分成幾十個獨立部落，散居該州各地。較大的部落稱為 “Nation 國”, 獨立國有幾個，其國土也是散佈該州許多縣 (counties)。這是一個非常不尋常的安排：國、部落，都擁有自己的權利與獨立自主性，人人之間互相尊重、幫助、協調。
但這美好現象並非沒有辛酸的過去。本土印笫安人就有許多不同種族，自十幾萬年前開始，來自不同外地移入。加上五百年前開始的歐裔移民，包括農民及牧民，在 Oklahoma 的土地上經歷紛爭、協商，終得和平。舞臺劇 Oklahoma 就是描寫 1906 年的歷史背景：紛爭、建州、鄉村美景、戀愛故事。
因為 1943 年百老匯的舞臺劇 Oklahoma 成名，其主要歌曲歌名 Oklahoma 也頗受歡迎，於是在 1953 年，Oklahoma 州政府決議將這歌曲定為該州的州歌，歌詞如下：

本土印笫安人及歐裔移民，共同在這 Oklahoma 土地上展望未來。這故事也從百老匯移到電影裏。1955 年的電影 Oklahoma 又讓音樂劇更實景展現，也很受歡迎。雖然至今，有些影評對劇中的有些劇情及演藝，不表認可。但這影片並不是以藝術取勝，而是以歷史背景寫真為主。讓人從平凡的郷村故事中，看到平凡的歴史，一個祥和的、令人羡慕的歷史。
自 Oklahoma 舞臺劇 1943 年首演，至今已80年。今年在世界的另一個角落，中東地區，發生了另一個 “兩民族爭奪土地” 的驚人事故。當事者都認為自己對該土地有歷史權利。世人會希望他們很快地，找出好方法解決紛爭。或許 Oklahoma 的故事，可以相映。
